Echo 360 Personal Recording
The Personal Capture application from Echo360 allows instructors with university VUnet accounts in the MD program to record video and slides from their personal laptop and upload them to their Echo360 course. When using personal capture, it could take up to an hour for the video to be posted, and it cannot be live-streamed. For this reason, be sure to record your lecture a few hours before expecting students to view it.
Step One: Download Free App
- From the link below, download the “Universal Capture: Personal” file
https://echo360.org/downloads - Once the file has downloaded, open the file and follow the prompts to install it
Step Two: Record Lecture
- Open the “Echo 360 Capture” application
- Click on the first screen to log in to your Vanderbilt University account
At this point, you will see two screens, separated by a volume indicator and a record button towards the bottom.
- Use the downward arrows in the right corners of both displays to select the amount and types of inputs to record
- Confirm that the volume is working by talking into your microphone while watching the green sound bar.
- Once your displays are confirmed, select the red button to start the countdown to recording. The screen will minimize once it starts recording so that you can navigate your desktop.
- Once you are finished recording, open the window again and select the square button to stop and save your recording.
- Once the recording has processed, select “Click to View” to open the recording online
Step Three: Publish Online into Course
- At the top of the page, select the pencil icon to edit the name of your video
- Select the blue Publish button at the bottom of the page
- In the popup window, select the Course and Section where the video will bepublished
- Select whether you would like the recording to be available now or later
- Select Publish at the bottom of the window, and you are done!
